Hello Reader, I am writing this over the weekend because when you're reading it on Tuesday morning, I will be in cataract surgery. I'm not sure how soon my eyes will be ready to stare at a computer screen again, so if you send me a message within the next couple days, you might be hearing from one of my teammates rather than me. šŸšŸ‘šŸ”šŸŒæ Deworming goats correctly is about more than choosing the strongest product. This article explains the three main classes of dewormers, how resistance develops,...

Hello Reader, It's been busy on the farm this past week. Last Friday, with our son-in-law's help, we planted our tomato and pepper plants as well as some onion sets. Then on Saturday, we had our first half-day meditation retreat. I'll be working through Memorial Day weekend, both on the farm and on my computer, because on Tuesday I'm having cataract surgery. One of the things I'll be working on is getting ready for our first in-person event for Goats 365 members at the end of June. šŸ«‘šŸ…šŸ§…šŸŒæ Milk...

In this episode, Dr. Michael Pesato explains how Johne’s is transmitted, diagnosed, and managed to protect your goats and your farm. Hello Reader, There’s something about stepping out of your usual environment—even for just a few hours—that can shift everything. This summer, we’re offering a series of small, half-day meditation retreats here at Antiquity Oaks Farm, just outside Cornell, Illinois. They’ll be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of each month (May through August), and the first one is coming up this Saturday. These mornings are simple by design. A chance to slow down, get out of your head a bit,...

Hello Reader, Want to go to Portugal with me and visit farms? I’m starting to map out a small-group trip (just 8–12 people) for fall 2026 or spring 2027, and it’s shaping up to be a really special blend of learning and relaxing. We’ll spend a week visiting a variety of farms—goat dairies, homesteads, vineyards, and more—while also enjoying the slower pace of life, great food, and time to just soak it all in. A friend of mine who lives in Lisbon will be helping us connect with local farmers...

Hello Reader, Yesterday, I was on Zoom with a friend who moved to Portugal a couple of years ago—and by the end of the conversation, we had the beginnings of something I’m really excited about… A small-group farm tour in Portugal. This is still taking shape, but here’s what I know so far: I’m planning a one-week trip in fall 2026 or spring 2027 (avoiding the rainy season), with a very small group—just 8 to 12 people. We’ll visit a mix of farms—goat dairies, homesteads, vineyards, and...
