🎧 Red Cell for Goats
Goat owners commonly administer Red Cell to anemic animals after deworming, but research into the effectiveness of this practice was nonexistent until recently. In this episode, Dr. Joan Burke, co-author on a study that looked at the efficacy of using Red Cell after deworming, talks about the study and its outcome. She also touches on using injectable iron, and she even gives you a bonus tip at the end on treating strongyloides (threadworm).

🏡On the homestead and in my life...
Last week, I attended the Dairy Sheep Association of North America Symposium, and I made the same observation as at the American Dairy Goat Association convention a couple of weeks earlier. There were very few beginners in attendance. Most attendees had been raising sheep for decades, once again showing that the most successful breeders realize that they are always learning. Even though I don't have dairy sheep (I have hair sheep), I learned a lot about sheep AND goats from the speakers, including small ruminant veterinarians, researchers, and business owners from the US, Canada, Italy, Ireland, Brazil, and other countries. I'm excited about sharing with you all that I've learned!
Happy homesteading!
