[Goat News] Obesity, worms, myths, and Crème brûlée pie

Hello Reader,

We got quite a surprise eight days ago when a yearling doe gave birth on day 141 to quintuplets. Although this is our ninth set of quintuplets, it's the first time we had a yearling do it, and it's the first time they've been premature. I'm going to be creating a podcast episode about this and also adding a premie module to the kidding course. This is the first time we've had premature kids since 2009.

Taking care of goats often means learning to notice the small details that can make a big difference in their health and wellbeing. In this week’s articles, we’re looking at a few common questions goat owners have, along with one easy dessert recipe that’s perfect when you have extra eggs to use up.

Fat Goats

It might sound like a good problem to have, but goats that are too fat can actually face serious health issues. In this article, I talk about why obesity happens in goats and what it can mean for their long-term health. Learn how to recognize when a goat is carrying too much weight and what you can do about it.

Goat Worms

Parasites are one of the most common health challenges goat owners deal with. Understanding how worms affect goats and how to manage them properly can make a big difference in your herd. This article explains what you need to know about prevention, symptoms, and treatment.

Caring for Senior Goats

Older goats often need a little extra care to stay comfortable and healthy. Changes in nutrition, dental health, and mobility can all become important as goats age. Here are some practical tips for helping your senior goats thrive in their later years.

Debunking Common Goat Myths

There’s a lot of advice floating around online about goats, and not all of it is accurate. Some common beliefs about goat care can actually lead to problems. In this article, I clear up several myths that often confuse new goat owners.

Should You Keep Pet Goats in the House?

Every now and then someone asks if goats can live inside the house like dogs. While the idea might sound cute, goats have very different needs and behaviors. This article explains what you should consider before bringing a goat indoors.

📄Crème Brûlée Pie

If you have extra eggs piling up, this is one of my favorite quick desserts. Crème brûlée pie has the rich flavor of the classic dessert but is much easier to make. It comes together in just a few minutes and always feels a little special.

Happy Goatherding,
